The opportunity to participate on a Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park team is a privilege, not a right, and with every privilege comes inherent responsibility. The school takes pride in the accomplishments of its student-athletes. HSA McKinley Park High School sports compete at the 1A level. Boys Baseball, Girls Softball, and Girls Basketball have all advanced to the IHSA State Series Regional Semifinals in recent seasons.

2) Elementary/Middle School

Horizon Science Academy’s elementary and middle school athletic program is designed to build  pipeline of progress so our younger athletes have an opportunity to learn the game and develop their skills before they enter high school.

3) Athletic Forms

Students must have their physician complete the IHSA Pre-participation Examination Form and return to the Athletic Director before they can participate in an interscholastic sport. Parents/Guardians and students also must read and complete the IHSA Sports Medicine Acknowledgment & Consent Form and return it to the Athletic Director before they can participate in an interscholastic sport.

4) Eligibility

Students must meet all IHSA and Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park eligibility requirements to be eligible to participate in athletic, including:

  1. All participants are required to have a valid annual medical evaluation on file with the school.
  2. Students must have received passing grades in twenty-five (25) credit hours in the previous semester to be eligible.
  3. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA the current semester and not be failing any classes. Coaches and the athletic director administrators will do weekly grade checks to ensure students maintain eligibility throughout the season.
  4.   Students must meet all IHSA residency requirements.
  5. Transfer students (excluding 9th graders) must be deemed eligible by the IHSA before they will be allowed to compete in interscholastic contests.
